A Pennsylvania health insurance company has announced a new incentive program that will pay incentives for Medicare member visits when their Health Risk Assessment is completed. This program applies only to Medicare office visits, and it does not affect or replace their existing incentive program which is in place for their Medicaid line of business.
CTI is committed to helping insurance companies and providers achieve and report the highest quality of care for their members and patients. Identifying health conditions for at-risk populations in a timely manner – and providing appropriate interventions based on those conditions – is of utmost importance. A Health Risk Assessment, in combination with a timely office visit, has proven to be an invaluable tool in identifying opportunities for appropriate care.
New Incentives:
- $350 for an office visit within 60 days of the member being assigned to their PCP + submission of Health Risk Assessment
- $150 for an office visit after 60 days of the member being assigned to their PCP + submission of Health Risk Assessment
[/checklist] In order to qualify for the new incentive payment, providers must complete and submit a Health Risk Assessment. All fields on the form must be completed in their entirety and the form must be submitted to the insurance company within 10 business days of the visit. Office visits completed without an HRA will not qualify providers for an incentive payment.
Excellent care given by providers who scheduled Medicare office visits in 2014 without knowing there would be an incentive related to the care is also being acknowledged. Previously conducted office visits are being honored if they were completed within 60 days of the member being assigned to their PCP. Additionally, opportunities are being offered to receive additional incentive payments for submitting Health Risk Assessments based on those recent visits.
Retroactive Incentives:
- $250 for an office visit within 60 days of the member being assigned to their PCP (from January 1, 2014 to July 31, 2014) with a Health Risk Assessment
- $100 for an office visit within 60 days of the member being assigned to their PCP (from January 1, 2014 to July 31, 2014) without a Health Risk Assessment
[/checklist] These incentives are effective immediately, and will be paid on a quarterly basis. The first payment is scheduled for September 2014, covering dates of service from January 1, 2014 through July 31, 2014.
As you know, patient assessment forms can be lengthy, and this particular HRA is 11 pages long and must be completed thoroughly in its entirety.
